My students became so enthralled in A Land Remembered that they insisted on reading ahead! It is an inspiring tale that follows the McIvey family through several generations as they battle the hardships of the Florida frontier. The book and lesson plans are not only excellent resources for teaching Florida history but, are invaluable tools in creating awareness of Florida's many threatened ecosystems. A Land remembered is a must read for students of all ages.

This is a well researched fictional account of life in Florida from the Civil War until contemporary times. It includes a wonderful description of "Cracker Florida" culture, the development of the cattle industry, the development of the citrus industry, and the problems of man's encroachment on the environment. There is an edited version for younger children.
